SHINIGAMI

Faceless man is chased by a curse since the day he's born.
This curse force the man to only make 5 actions before he had to prey before an altar. 
If he makes more actions, he's eaten by the demon above him and he have to restart.

 

 

Shinigami is a platformer/thinking game made with a 6 peoples team under a Game Jam that had taken place in Lyon, France from 22 to 24 november 2013.

 

This 2D game for PC, made in Java, put the player in place of a faceless man who try to get rid of a curse who is haunting him since the day he is born.

 

Shinigami is a game which takes place in a japanese and violent universe, in this universe the player is cursed by something that kills him if he does more than five actions (If he use more than five keys on his keyboard) and the player evolves in a level where the dificulty increase exponentially.

 

In short, Shinigami is : A faceless man, An evil curse and a really difficult level.

In Shinigami, the player have to takes the faceless man from a point A to a point B in a 2D Level before he use more than 5 keyboards input. Each time the player pass before an altair, all his inputs are reset.

This game has been made to show people that they use more inputs than necessary.

If the player does more that 5 inputs, the demon above him eats him then he's sended back to the last activated checkpoint (Which means the last activated altair).

Job done / Skill used :

 

- Active participation and taking decisions in hourly meetings / Teamwork

- Creation and import of 2D assets / Adobe Photoshop

For Shinigami about the Game & Level Design, we were 3 of 6 to share the work. About Game Design with thoses conditions (knowing that we only had 24 hours to complete the game) forced us to take decisions very quickly so the project can progress at the speed we wanted with a high level of quality. 
More precisely for the Game Design part, i helped the group by taking decisions. 
I also helped with the graphics so that the game could progress as quickly as possible.
